Our Mission

Run by people who are already there.

RootAid raises the funds, coordinates where they go, and organises the delivery. We work through local partners already living and working in Afghanistan — people who know exactly which family needs help and why — so every food parcel, coat, and school fee reaches them directly, without months of setup we'd have to build from scratch ourselves.

What We Do

Three programs, one purpose.

Women's Education

We're raising money to coordinate local tutors and open as many classrooms as we can for girls who currently have no access to schooling. It's early days: this is a one-time fundraising push, not a recurring program yet, so every gift goes straight toward getting it off the ground.

This shelf is the full extent of the learning materials currently available at one partner site — a handful of books shared between dozens of children.

Orphan Sponsorship

Our sponsorship program pairs orphaned children with ongoing support — shelter, schooling, and basic needs — through trusted local guardians and care homes. 143 children are currently in this program.

Emergency Food Relief

Not every child we help lives in an orphanage. Many families in Kabul and surrounding communities are struggling to put food on the table at home — through local community leaders, we identify these households directly and deliver food parcels to them, separate from our work with children in institutional care.

Seasonal Appeal

Winter is coming again.

Between October and December 2025, we worked with our partners on the ground to deliver jackets, blankets and warm clothing to children ahead of Afghanistan's harsh winter — many of them at ASRA Orphanage in Kabul. Temperatures there regularly drop below freezing, and proper winter clothing is often the difference between staying warm and getting sick.

As the cold returns this year, we're raising funds to do it again.

My Little World — Hearts of Humanity

Our primary on-the-ground partner. We coordinate directly with their team on what's needed, who receives it, and how each food, clothing and winter relief effort is delivered — before a single parcel goes out.

ASRA Orphanage Group & other partner orphanages

Care homes in Kabul where much of our distribution work happens. We work with staff at each to understand what the children in their care need most, visit by visit.
